Why work with me?
My philosophy
If you are considering coaching, whether for yourself, someone who works for you, you and someone else in your organization, a team or several teams, it is probably because you need something to change, and once it has changed, not to change back to the way it is now. Almost always, this isn't as simple as "here is how you do it" or "you need to do X more often, until it becomes more automatic. Most of the time, you need to know why it has been difficult to change, how to make sense of that, and how you and/or others need to see things differently in order to change in a way that is likely to "stick" and even to help with future reasons to change. This is the foundation to the way I work.
Certifications
I am a Master Corporate Executive Coach (MCEC), a Board-Certified Coach(BCC) and a certified facilitator of Kegan and Lahey’s Overcoming Immunity to Change methodology. I have coached a variety of executives, within for-profit and not-for-profit companies – from mid-level and senior executives to the chairperson of a board of directors and have provided coaching for the Center for Creative Leadership, Coachsource, Aiir Consulting, Renewal Associates and Sloan Group International, as well as executive coaching and intercultural training for NetExpat.
Clients
My clients have included Ford, FCA, UBS, BMO, Merck, Mylan, Novartis, Boeringer Ingelheim, Philips, Penske Logistics, GHD, Fred Hutch, Princeton University, Habitat for Humanity and Amnesty International. I am also certified in several assessments, including Hogan, Leadership Circle Profile, Workplace Big 5 and Influence Style Indicator and have also developed a multi-way 360 assessment to measure a team’s and each team member’s ability to have effective, difficult conversations. I am a certified coaching supervisor and am currently training to become a certified advanced practitioner of systemic team coaching with Peter Hawkins.
Some history
I have given presentations on coaching and on overcoming immunity to change at multiple conferences in the US, England, and Mexico and completed research on the coaching process, partnering with Tatiana Bachkirova at Oxford Brookes University, under a grant from Harvard University’s Institute of Coaching. During my career at American Express, I led cross-functional product development teams using new technologies, oversaw a 4 million dollar technology budget, served as an internal and external consultant with executives in Fortune 500 companies, and was the recipient of multiple awards for quality and innovation.
I have lived in the USA, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and Brazil and am fluent in English, French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese (I also speak some Italian, Dutch, Mandarin Chinese and other languages). This experience is helpful in working with multinational executives and their teams but has also proven critical in identifying and working with subtle differences in individual and organizational cultures and sub-cultures. I hold a coaching certificate from Executive Coach Academy, an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, an MSW from Columbia University and a BA with honors from Princeton University.
